Avatar: A Review

2

Hey guys, Happy Holidays! Hope you all are having a great time with friends, family, and those you love. On my break I spent some of my time with my family at the movies, and guess what we saw? Yep! Avatar! I decided to throw up a little video sharing my thoughts on it. Enjoy. (P.S. Sorry about the photo, I haven’t bought Photoshop for my Mac yet, so I had to resort to the free, but amazing LiveQuartz. Haha, the joke is still good though, even if the image of my head on that dude’s body isn’t.)

Crap! That camera angle makes the video look weird. I’ll try not to have my laptop on my lap next time. Haha. It’s still a good review though, right? Ha.

Ok, after some of the hype calmed down (I think. Haven’t been in too much contact with the world lately) i finally watched this review, and i agree with most parts of it. The biggest part i disagree with is that it is one of the best movies on planet earth. Don’t get me wrong, i really liked the movie, but i wasn’t blown away.

The reasons for it not blowing me away is not the effects. The special effects of this movie is really great. How they (probably) have recorded it with virtual cameras and then animated it is outstanding. The characters are animated well, and look really lifelike. Now they may have used another method, but that’s just how i imagine them doing it.

BUT. I don’t think the storyline is good. This is a typical “don’t mess with the eco system and the world” type movie, and the Naavi or however it’s spelled are very similar to native americans.
That it is extremely similar to how “the white man” came to take all the riches of the land of the native americans is not necessarily a bad thing in it self, but when you have seen the first parts of the movie, you allready know what’s going to happen. I sat in the cinema knowing what was going to happen in the end long before it happened. There is one event leading up to how that surprised me, but it wasn’t a big plot changer, so that really ruined it for me.

And my opinion on the 3D: I didn’t really like the 3D. I can see why people like it, but i would prefer watching it without. The 3D was good in the beginning, but it seems like it dimmed down further into the movie. If you Wan’t to see it in 3D, go ahead, but i’d prefer regular dimensions.

All in all, i think it was a very good movie, but it wasn’t perfect in my opinion. If i were to give it a number i’d say 9 out of ten, which is good, but not perfect.

    These are just my opinions.
