Hey guys, Happy Holidays! Hope you all are having a great time with friends, family, and those you love. On my break I spent some of my time with my family at the movies, and guess what we saw? Yep! Avatar! I decided to throw up a little video sharing my thoughts on it. Enjoy. (P.S. But what is their secret to popularity? Actually, it’s very simple. They create the most random videos and many people watch them.

Which brings us to another matter. How to get a ton of views on YouTube.

-Go and copy the URL of the video that you want to be seen.

-Go to www.viewtubetrain.com

-Click “Add A Movie”

-Paste the URL into the “URL Box” and click “Submit”

-Click “Watch Videos”

The Website works like this: everyone wants more views, so they have to watch your video to get them. The same goes for you, too. You will have to watch videos to get more views. You get 1 point for every second you watch of another video. A user with the most points will get their video watched first. So the more you watch, the more views you get.

Well, the secret is out. So go make random videos and then cheat to get people to see them! Wait. That doesn’t sound right to me…

Microsoft. A huge company that has been my best friend for many years. I have trusted Microsoft, i have stood up for Microsoft in arguments with Mac OS users, but a recent event has made me lose all respect for them.

Two weeks ago, a very enthusiastic Mads decided to get an Xbox 360, and on the 5th of December, I finally had an opportunity to go to my local Radioshack to buy one. I stood in line for 15 minutes on this oddly busy day, before I reached the counter where I with a big smile on my face asked “do you have an Xbox 360 for sale?”. To my joy, I was answered with a question about which version I wanted. As an exchange student, i have no opportunity to get a job, so I don’t have eternal amounts of money, so I chose to get the Pro version with a 60 gig hard drive for 249$

Later that evening I arrived at my house really exited to go play Borderlands. I ran to my TV giggling like a 10 year old, and hooked it up. I slowly moved closer to the power button, adrenaline was rushing through the body, Pressed the button, and *Click* (……)  *Chirp Chirp, Chirp Chirp*. Nothing. Not even the 4RROD. After “intense” Google-ing, I diagnosed the console as dead.

This whole event resulted in me paying 50$ more to get the black elite version, that actually worked.

I also got an Xbox Live Gold membership, which leads me to my next event.

With my Xbox, i bought 4000 Microsoft points that gave me the message “Invalid code”. I assumed that I was unlucky and got a bad code, so today, I bought another 4000 Microsoft points, and guess what? They gave me the same freaking message! After yet another Google-ing session it turns out that Microsoft points are also region code based. What the heck? Are they afraid that we are going to gray market Microsoft points? Greedy paranoid MORONS. The reason this really annoys me is that, since I am Norwegian, it is in my nature to write in the sign up form that I am Norwegian. The Xbox then assumes that it is located in Norway. First of all, with the region code based games, this is really stupid, since it’s two different region codes between the European PAL region code, aka region code 2 and the American region code 1.

I thought that an easy setting had to be made, to make it understand it’s geographical location, but Microsoft has decided that if an item is in one location, it cannot move, so it is impossible to change the location! MICROSOFT! IT IS POSSIBLE TO MOVE AROUND.

This resulted in me sitting here now with 8000 Microsoft point’s i can’t use, waiting for a reply from the Microsoft support team, that won’t answer their phone.

Today’s tech report from yours truly, Fiasco, includes a wide range of topics. But they are all extremely awesome! So first off, I just want to put it out there that if this Facebook Privacy issue starts another stupid lawsuit, I’m packing up an moving to Australia! In fact, I’m not even going to write about it. Now on to a good topic. Ahh yes… the Android. Most people would say that the Android is very similar to the iPhone (in some aspects), and even though my view may be biased, well… it’s correct. The iPhone kills the “Droid” any day! Why do you think Verizon is pushing to get the iPhone in their hands? If the Android is really just as good as the iPhone, why not just stick with it? There must be something more. Yes. Much more. The iPhone beats out the Android in terms of usefulness, the number apps available and support. Apple will die to get your phone fixed. And they are willing to lose money to keep your business. A bad move? Maybe. Maybe not. But for all you haters of Apple out there, your day may come soon. The “Phase 2″ for the Android might include a Google phone here and there… wait, what?! Yes. The mix between the Android and the Google phone will keep Apple on its toes. 3. Gun Technology

Featured in the sleeper hit Borderlands, gun tech, also known as gun artificial intelligence, revolutionized how we view an in game weapon as a whole. The technology allows for what seems to be limitless possibilities of different types of guns. Ranging from the type of weapon to what stats it has, the technology creates a wonderful surprise every time you pick up a gun. I’m excited to see how this will be used in future games and possible other types of object oriented artificial intelligence.

2. Pets

Most households have some sort of animal that the family would call a pet. You grow close to your pet. It becomes an instant part of the family. You find yourself attaching and trusting your animal. Why not bring that out in gaming? Fallout 3 is a very prime example of making pets in gaming work. Dogmeat is a pooch that you can find in the wasteland and adopt as your own. He has many abilities and can fetch ammo and food for you. He really can come in handy. You find a close bond with Dogmeat and often find yourself trying to save him over your own life. With the promise of virtual pets coming from Sony sometime in 2010, you can bet this trend will continue to influences the gaming community.

1. Cinematic Transitions

Movies have been a primary source of entertainment for years. The same can be said about video games. What happens when you merge the two? An awesome medium that is sure to thrill and intrigue anyone with a itch for a good story and a challenge. Cut scenes have been a way for games to mimic the way movies tell stories. However in the recent stream of games we have seen, story telling has been taken to a new level. While some games have been criticized for their lack of game play, such as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, others have been glorified like Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. The transitions are phenomenal and at times I found myself not even realizing I was suppose to be playing. This really intrigued me to keep playing and helped me thoroughly enjoy the game as a whole. Hopefully more games can perfect this art and craft it into a perfect blend of mediums.

Music can play into any section of ones life. How you choose to interpret it is all your own unique signature. A signature no one can challenge nor defeat. The way you listen can tell a lot about a person. Personally I like to, “See” when I hear. If this doesn’t make any sense then let me put it this way. Music takes me to another world where I can enjoy and envision whatever it is my mind wants to.

Couple this amazing medium we all love with gaming and a combination is made that can revolutionize the day. When I sit down to a good game of source on the laptop, I like to turn up the Zune and jam. It puts me in a place of focus and relaxation. I play better when Eminem is laying down some beats or when The Foo Fighters are flowing out some tunes.

My passion for music and games put me in an odd place. Sure I can love the music, and sure I can love the game, but when will I be able to love both within the same medium? Something besides the classic Rockband or Guitar Hero we all know. Well that’s where this tale becomes interesting. One fine day at High school, I opened up the monthly paper produced there and saw an ad for video game testers. Most of my friends brushed it off as stupid and wouldn’t do it.

One good friend of mine and myself decided to call up the people looking for testers. Turns out they were my neighbors. We each took part in playing this amazing game before anyone else. It’s called Audio Surf. We were blown away and couldn’t believe how revolutionary on an idea this was. It made me anxious. Would the game catch on? The answer was yes. After receiving my twenty five dollars I headed home waiting for the future.

Sure enough it went off to the Independent Game Festival where it received numerous awards. It was released on Steam and critics shouted their praise. It truly was an amazing thing to see something I had a chance to play first, blow up into a musical genre video game phenomena.
